A selection from 'Taken in Time' : Photographs of Cardiff's Docklands at the Turn of the Century (to be published 2005) As in 'Before the Deluge', the photographic journey begins in 'The Hayes', Cardiff's city-centre crossroads. It again proceeds along Bute Street, still the link between the city and Butetown, the largest of Cardiff's multi-ethnic though no longer docks-related communities. The journey ends at a newly redeveloped waterfront, Cardiff Bay, and the Barrage which has transformed the old harbour into a freshwater playground. The working docks remain but are now cut off from the old communities which once depended on them for their livelihood.
